I’m releasing a new wordpress plugin that will allow you to install a ClickBank text links ad on your site as a configurable widget. (See ads on left)
Basic Instructions:
1. Upload the the clickbank-hop-ad.zip to your plugins directory and unzip it.
2. Login into your admin site and Activate the ClickBank Hop Ad plugin. (Under Plugins)
3. Go to Design, Widgets
4. Select which sidebar you want to add the widget to.
5. Add the ClickBank Hop Ad widget. By clicking the add link in the title of the ClickBank Hop Ad widget.
6. Then configure the settings, by clicking the Edit link. Make sure you click Save Settings.
For the Font:
separate each font with a comma. To use fonts that have a space, enclose the font in double quotes. e.g.
“Times New Roman”, Arial, Verdana

Looks great; does it work with both WordPress.com and WordPress.org?
April 7th, 2009 4:49 am
Appears to work fine. Would be good to be able to have the links cloaked some way though.
Thanks
April 7th, 2009 5:30 pm
Any ideas on making this available without widget functionality?
April 7th, 2009 9:08 pm
Thomas, I’m working on another plugin that will allow you to insert text into a post or page. Basically, there will be an admin page that will let you keep different versions of an ad, and then insert some text like [clickbank-hop-ad-4].
I’m interested in hearing your ideas.

Thanks for the plugin. What do I put for the tracking ID? I’m new to cb.. let me know how I find that please
Thanks
April 8th, 2009 12:11 am
The tracking id can be 24 characters long, containing alpha and numeric characters only. The tracking allows you to track where the sale came from. When you log into your ClickBank account and go to Reporting, Analytics and view the affiliate report, you’ll see how many hops, sales you had for that tracking id.
April 8th, 2009 7:18 am
So I essentially make up my own tracking ID so I can designate each website I own a different one? I just wanted to make sure clickbank doesn’t assign this number, and its something I generate myself?
April 9th, 2009 9:09 am
Nice plugin, let me know when the posts and pages can handle this. I have given you my opinion aqbout what I would like, some are cool and others are not worth it but you decide. If you could do some of them, then I’m sure many people would download and promote the plugin.
Would be nice if you could dedicate a page or post to list many or a few cb products. Maybe list a few products from multiple categories.
1. I also think it would be nice to have an admin interface.
2. Have shortcodes to list many cb products or categories (set in admin and referenced)
3. list only a few cb products and depending on your categories (keywords setup in admin)
4. Click tracking if possible
5. Maybe include images
6. maybe make it possible to add the widget multiple times to sidebar. To have one in 1st sidebar with keywords ‘make money’ and another in a footer (keywords ‘wordpress’ and another one in another sidebar for other keywords, etc.
This plugin is a must and many people make money from cb.
April 10th, 2009 1:11 am
Another point is to maybe make it possible to have the ads be horizontal or vertical. Just a thought.

Hey Nice Plugin, I would like to see some link cloaking though, as I am afraid it will effect my pr rank because of the affiliate links that google will see.
May 4th, 2009 6:26 am
Nice plugin. It would be nice if the ads could be picked up based on tags or content of the page, contextually, so that the ads can be always relevant to the page.

Hi,..
Frankly,.. it is awesome
i like your plugin.
But,.. there is simple problems if i wanna inplement your plugin in my other site.
My site theme do not have widget.
Actually, a wanna add it into my single post, but i have no time to add it manually inside every post.
So,..
It will be more ‘awesome’, if you can tell me, how to call your plugin via php script.
Because i want to add it inside my single.php (singlepost).
Once again, is there any solution? how to call your plugin with php script?
Thanks.
Irwanbee.

irwanbee:
There are some comments inside the php to tell you how to modify the plugin to work in posts:
inside wp-content/plugins/clickbank-hop-ad/cbhopad.php
//Uncomment this if you want the options panel to appear under the Admin Options interface:
add_action(’admin_menu’, ‘cbhopad_addMenu’);
//Uncomment this if you want the token to be called using a token in a post :
add_filter(’the_content’, ‘content_cbhopad’);

I found http://www.opensolv.com very informative. The article is professionally written and I feel like the author knows the subject very well. http://www.opensolv.com keep it that way.

Nice plugin. Here are my suggestions for improvement:
The “Height” should slide automatically to accommodate the “Ad Rows”. I found that if the Height is too short some of the ads will be cut off.
Add some padding (maybe 3-5px). Without padding, if you add boarder the left hand-side of the ads will touch the boarder it does look nice.

This is a great pluigin, since I am really new at the wordpress game, this is one of the first plugins I have startyed using and it’s great.

It looks like the clickbank plugin is not working with 2.8.4. It activates, but doesn’t show up anywhere to enter the information to place the widget on the page.

i just signed up with Clickbank and i am very new to affiliate marketing. i just hope that i would earn on this program

Great plugin
:)
The current cloaking is fine but we - webmasters - we wish to be able to fully cloak the links, having a “recommended” folder added, etc - the whole thing.
Secondly it might be useful to be able to have the post’s keywords as the ones that tht plugin will use.
Thanks in advance

A nice plugin from a nice idea. How about forcing it to inherit d css of the sidebar and not use its own style? So it can blend with the sidebar with no borders
September 25th, 2009 3:31 am
Something must have changed - since yesterday the plug-in only returns the same clickbank ad multiple times.
Just have a look at your own sidebar.
Any chance for a fix?
September 25th, 2009 11:11 am
Nice catch Marko, I’ll look into it!
September 25th, 2009 12:03 pm
I think it may be an issue with CB when popular keywords are used, I’ve notified them. When they fix it you shouldn’t need to do anything.
September 25th, 2009 12:38 pm
Thanks for your response, Hans. I really appreciate it.
And thanks for your great plug-in.
Since I’m already here, I’ll just add my 2 feature requests for future versions:
1) multiple instances would be great. This would make it possible to display different keywords in the various instances on different site categories by using “widget logic” or other, similar plug-ins.
2) automatic widget height based on the number of ads instead of a fixed pixel amount. Currently, it’s a balancing act of either having too much space after the widget or risking to have the last ad truncated.
September 25th, 2009 4:32 pm
The duplicate issue has been resolved at CB.

Hi there,
Nice plug-in. One suggestion: Could you make it to display only relevant ads/products based on the current page keywords and sort it, e.g: by gravity? It’ll make it a real contender for adsense, a great help for those whose adsense application hasn’t been approved yet (like me LOL).
Thanks.

i just recently signed up with Clickbank and so far i earn some good cash from them. Clickbank is advisable for blogs and websites who receive mostly US traffic.

Hi Hans,
Great blog-in, thank you so much.
Please tell me where in the code, what to edit, to make the widget be centered.
As it is now, the box is aligned left at my theme.(scroll down to the bottom)
October 19th, 2009 7:53 am
Around line 118 change:
.”hopfeed_align=’LEFT’;” .”\n”
to:
.”hopfeed_align=’CENTER’;” .”\n”
October 19th, 2009 7:55 am
in the wp-content/plugins/clickbank-hop-ad/cbhopad.php
You can get to this through the admin going to Plugins –> Edit and select Clickban Hop Ad Plugin. But the files need to be writable on the file system.

Hi, Great blog. Thanks for having it. I really like what you wrote. You have a very distinctive writing style - straight and to the point. That’s hard to find on the web these days.
Great tips about how hop-links work. I really appreciate them. Clickbank is pretty cool so far.
I have a blog about search engine optimization I would appreciate you checking out. It is @ http://www.linkthe.com. Please let me know what you think. Cheers!

I would like to use more than one ad widget, so they can have different topics. Is that possible? Like using the text widget multiple times.

Thanks friends…
Great plugin!
If this plugin can trigger keyword automatically by post or title it will be too great.hehe
Thanks again.

Great plugin, would be useful to be able to choose which ads come up by eg exact match on keywords, gravity and maybe commission rate.
At the moment you can only put in keywords but it seems to pull up unrelated ads

One remembers that modern life seems to be very expensive, but different people require money for various things and not every person gets big sums cash. Thus to receive quick loan or bank loan would be a correct solution.

I can’t complain much, the plugin is free.. :). But I would also like to see a cloaking feature.

Hans
Does this plugin mean that you DO NOT need a unique hoplink of your own from Clickbank for each individual product? Can I collect commissions with your plugin but still create a hoplink for the actual individual product or does Clickbank go purely by cookie tracking. Also, where does one get their tracking ID?
